CONSULTATION SESSION ON PATHOLOGY USING CLOUD SYSTEMS AND AI

On May 17, 2024, the Open Innovation and Technopreneur Institute (OITI) and Medmain, supported by the Kyushu Promotion Center of Japan, successfully organized a consultation session aimed at introducing Japanese solutions using cloud technology and AI in pathology in Vietnam. The program welcomed the participation of leading pathology doctors and researchers in Vietnam From Military Hospital 103, E Hospital, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Phenikaa University, Sovico Group,…

After the opening remarks by Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Open Innovation and Technopreneur Institute(OITI), and Mr. Tomioka Kem, Global Business Director of Medmain in Japan, Mr. Asada Yusuke, Production Director of Medmain, shared insights into the global landscape of digital pathology and the benefits of digital transformation in healthcare. For instance, he highlighted the use of specialized scanning machines to facilitate easy data storage, management, disease tissue tracking, and data sharing among doctors and other pathologists for disease diagnosis.

Representing Hanoi Medical University, Dr. Tran Ngoc Minh shared insights into the status of digital pathology in Vietnam and the challenges facing the Vietnamese healthcare system, such as a shortage of human resources, disparities in infrastructure, medical technology and expertise, leading to patient overload. He mentioned that doctors at higher-level hospitals support those at lower-level ones through communication tools like TeamViewer, UltraViewer, Facebook, Zalo,… resulting in unclear image quality, lack of specialization, and insufficient image processing, management, and data storage tools. Dr. Minh emphasized the importance of digital transformation in the field of pathology at each stage and mentioned that Hanoi Medical University Hospital is currently implementing Telepathology consultations to address these difficulties in the Vietnamese healthcare system.

To address these issues, Mr. Tomioka introduced the Pidport – an analytical system for pathological image diagnosis that enables super-precise, prompt pathological diagnosis using our unique Deep Learning/AI-based image processing technology. This system helps store and manage histopathological image data and case information on the cloud, facilitating easier tracking of cases and sharing them in conferences. Additionally, the AI application can provide highly accurate disease diagnoses comparable to those made by human doctors, improving work efficiency and reducing workload for doctors and pathologists. The solution has been implemented in many countries with similar conditions to Vietnam, such as India and Thailand, so leading experts  have a high opinion of its potential applicability in Vietnam to resolve issues related to image processing, data management, storage, and sharing for diagnostic purposes. Medmain will provide free trial accounts for doctors to evaluate the potential and suitability of the solution in Vietnam.
